Logan County has had only thirteen different sheriffs during its first 100
years of existance.
One sheriff was wonded in the line of duty - Art Wiley; another was kept busy
with illegal liquor and its making.

Enterprise during the Centennial year.
J.B. Doan
If it had happened in 1985 his name and picture would be making headlines. The
press, radio and T.V. crews would have descended on Gandy to get the "scoop
of the year", The Notorious, Evasive, Cunning, "Parker the Outlaw"
Captured.
Logan County Sheriff J.B. Doan Got His Man. (It was said Parker was guilty of
many crimes. He was taken to Texas, tried and found guilty of the murder of
his wife and was hung.)
Doan became sheriff on January 1, 1886. Doan also had to track down lost animals,
stop the fights at the local dances, and generally keep the peace in the booming
towns growing in Logan County.
