MARTHA JOHNSON, BILLINGS, DIES      
 Mrs. Martha E. Johnson, 83, of 3444 Poly Dr. died in a Billings hospital Sunday morning of cancer.       
Mrs. Johnson was born March 12, 1882, at Van Wert, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johnson.  As a child she moved to Arnold, Neb; where she was raised and educated.       
She was married to Ollie L. Johnson at North Platte, Neb; Oct 14, 1907.  They moved to the Great Falls area in about 1942 where he was engaged in farming.  Mr. Johnson died in 1949.  Mrs. Johnson moved to Billings 8 years ago.         
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.       
Surviving are her sons, Vernon T. Johnson of 3444 Poly Dr., and Wayne Johnson of Monterey California; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Steele of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.  The body is at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary

SERVICES HELD FOR MARTHA JOHNSON       
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7, 1965, at 1:30 pm from Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings, Montana for Mrs. Martha E. Johnson, 83, who died on Sunday, July 4, 1965, at a Billings Nursing home.         
Rev. R.H. Moorman, retired Baptist minister, officiated at the services.       
Organist and soloist was Mr. Merrill Womock who sang "The Eastern Gate'" and "Crossing the Bar."       
Pallbearers were Otis Lueck, Clarence Jacobson, Clarence Sportsman, A.R. Cable, Dan Stockton, and F.J. Kolman.     
Internment was in Mountview Cemetery.       
Martha Eliza Johnson was born March 12, 1882, the daughter of Thomas Madeson Johnson and Huldah Anna (Hoffa) Johnson, in Decature Co., near Van Wert, Iowa.      
 On September 30, 1884, at the age of two years she came with her parents in a covered wagon to live on a farm in the Garfield community west of Arnold.  Martha received her education and grew to womanhood in the Garfield Community.  She served as a mail carrier on the star route between Garfield & Myrtle post offices for four years.       
She was baptized on June 26, 1898, in the South Loop River, north of Gandy at the age of 16 in the General Baptist Church by Rev. H.C. Clinton.   Reverend Clinton was instrumental in building the Church at Garfield.  Martha was an active member of the Garfield Church and played the organ for the church activities.       
On October 14, 1907, she was married to Ollie Lewis Johnson at North Platte, Nebr.  They lived on a farm in Nebraska at Garfield and Brady.       
In about 1920, they moved to Chadron, Nebr., where Mr. Johnson worked for the railroad.  In 1932 they moved back to Garfield on her father's old homestead, now known as the Rollin Bay place.      
 In 1941 they moved to Montana where Mr. Johnson died on July 10, 1949, while they were living in Great Falls.  In 1954, she moved to Billings.       
Mr. Johnson's body was cremated and his ashes were enterned at Mountview Cemetery July 7, 1965, with his wife at the same graveside services.       
Surviving are two sons: Vernon T. Johnson 3444 Poly Dr., Billings, Montana and Wayne L. Johnson of 1004 Munras, Monterey, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Steele of 713 East 1st North, Logan, Utah; a sister Mrs. Ada Woods of Emmett, Idaho; Five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews around the Arnold and Stapleton areas.       
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brother's Charles B. Johnson and Samuel A. Johnson and one sister, Mrs. Fay S. Long.
