Obituary

Harry Novak dies in Omaha
  Services for longtime Nebraska City resident Harry Novak, 77, who died May 6, 1986, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
  Burial will be in a private family cemetery on the Novak farm two miles south of Nebraska City on U.S. 75, just north of the OPPD road on the east side of the highway.
  Novak was born April 11, 1909, in Varakian, Latvia, the son of Abraham and Esther Novornisle Novak. He helped his father operate a small grocery store and farm in Latvia before immigrating to America.
Novak immigrated to Nebraska City from Latvia in 1927. He lived first with his brother, Ben Novak, and then moved to Humboldt, where he dealt in scrap iron, used cars and parts.
  In 1933 he returned to Nebraska City and joined his brother, Ben, in the Chrysler-Plymouth dealership. The same year he returned to Europe to visit his family and bring back his brothers Herman and Abe.
  In 1935, Harry Novak acquired the Buick, Pontiac and GMC franchise, and also entered into farming and cattle feeding operations. Brother Herman joined Novak as a business partner during World War II.
  Novak married Norma Levin March 8, 1953, in Leavenworth, Kan.
  He is survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter, Esther Novak of San Francisco, Calif.; and granddaughter Rachael Goldberger of San Francisco.
  Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City is in charge of arrangements.
