About Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery

The Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery was originally ten acres of land called Crook Cemetery donated by Thomas Crook. Sometime later, the City of Bassett accepted the donation of this cemetery and decided to change its name to Bassett Memorial Park in 1938. As part of the WPA program, installation of hard surface roads constructed between 1938 and 1939. In 1955, the chapel was erected. In 1988, a "Rock County Time Capsule" hidden in ground front of the chapel area, only to be opened fifty years later in 2038. Mr. Dennis Arrowsmith sold five acres of land bordering the cemetery to the Bassett Cemetery Board to create additional plots needed in June 1977. In 2008, the original cemetery board was dissolved and the Bassett City Council now governs the cemetery. The first burial location in the cemetery is unknown, however records indicates that the earliest burials known was of a Bobbie Crook, who passed on May 15, 1888.

Photo Album

In this photo album, there are several photos of the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery and its surrounding. Also, I received some unmarked gravestone photographs from Sue Barnes and decided to place them in this photo album until they are indentified who markers these belong to. [. . .
