Audrey M. Rose, of Dorchester, died Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Friend Manor in Friend at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 4 days. She was born on a farm near Friend on February 18, 1916 to George and Vonda (Beldin) Kahler, the oldest of four children. As a young girl, Audrey attended Friend Public School and graduated with the class of 1934 from Friend High School. She was united in marriage on February 18, 1935 to Robert Kenneth Rose and to this union two daughters, Vonda Lea and Donna Kay were born. Most of Audrey's life was spent around the Friend and Dorchester area, however; they lived for a short time in Silver Creek, Nebraska before moving to Minden, Nebraska. In 1956 they moved to a farm south of Exeter. Audrey was a busy mother and homemaker, along with working at Formfit in Crete for over 25 years. After retiring from Formfit, Audrey moved to Dorchester. An excellent seamstress Audrey kept busy making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, as well as hundreds of jointed fuzzy bears, and numerous quilts for her family. She crocheted many afghans and eventually also learned to knit. Audrey enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren when they would come to visit during the summers. She was a long time member of the Friend United Methodist Church before transferring to Dorchester United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rose Standish Chapter #132 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. In her spare time Audrey enjoyed taking many bus tours around the United States and Canada. Audrey is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Arlen Brandt, Loveland, CO and Vonda and Don DeLuca, Wheatland WY, four grandsons and spouses, Scott and Monica Newbold, Fort Collins, CO, Lonnie and Bobbie Brandt, Hillsboro, OR, Gregg Brandt, Ault, CO, Russ and Stacy Brandt, Eaton, CO, four great-grandchildren, Clayton Ray and Aspen Rose Brandt, Hillsboro, OR, and Bowen Robert and Logan Rylee Brandt, Eaton, CO, sister, Patti Kundinger, Sun City West, AZ, three nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert in 1966, sister, Darlene Drake and a brother, George Kahler, Jr. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dorchester with Rev. Paixao Baptista officiating. Interment will be in the Andrew Cemetery, Friend. Visitation is from 9-9 on Thursday at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend.
