John Chasdek Sr.
Mr. John Chasdek Sr. was born Feb 15, 1851 in Czechoslovakia and passed from 
this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Sobotka, near Tobias, NE on 
December 8, 1930, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 23 days.

Mr. Chasdek came to America when just a child, coming to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 
early life where he remained for some4 years. He was married in Iowa to Miss 
Antonie Uldrich. Later, they moved to Saline Co. NE in which county they spent 
practically the remainder of their lives.

Mr. Chasdek was in poor health the last two years of his life, having suffered a 
stroke of paralysis a little more than two years ago. The closing part of his life 
was spent with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Sobotka.

Those who remain to mourn his loss are his widow, Mrs Antonie Chasdek, and 
the children, Mrs Sarah Rauch of LaPorte City, IA; Mrs Minnie Norris of Fairbury, NE; 
Mrs Matilda Schroeder of Fairbury, NE; Mrs Henry Sobotka of Tobias, NE; John 
Chasdek of Fairbury, NE; and Edward, Frank and Charley of Western, NE. there 
are also fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

The funeral was held at the home of Mrs Sobotka on Dec 11, at 1 o'clock with 
Mr. Chas Smrha of Milligan conducting. Burial was in the cemetery at Western. NE.
O, what a day is coming
Swift o'er the hills of time
My soul to meet its glories
Sets all her bells a chime.
What paths will soon be lighter,
What solace draweth near,
What wrongs will soon be righted,
What mysteries made clear.
"Twill surely come, it draweth nigh,
