James HC Miller was a struggling physician during the Nebraska years. I am in possession of the letters his wife sent to her son during those years from their home in Bellevue. Their grandson, James MILLER, died as an infant and is buried in Bellevue. I am interested in any historical reference materials that may shed some light on their years in Bellevue.
Additionally, I am interested in information on a Benjamin FULTON, a freed slave, who worked in some capacity for James HC MILLER. Benjamin FULTON came to Bellevue with James' son, after the war. He remained there and is referred to in the letters.

COOOMES, SUTTON, SCHNABEL
Desperately seeking marriage record of my mother's first marriage. It was not a happy one and she has blocked much of the memory of it from her mind. (She is almost 77). It most likely took place in August 1946 in Bellevue, although it may have been in the latter half of July. It resulted in the birth of my half-brother whose paternal genealogy we are working on. The marriage was between Harold H. SUTTON and Dorothea M. SCHNABEL. Her parents, Martin and Ida Schnabel and his mother, Nell Sutton were supposed to have been the witnesses. They divorced in 1951. We have discovered over the years that this man went through life using two last names inter-changeably-----his birth name (COOMES) and his step-father's name (Sutton). We don't know if his step-dad legally adopted him. We have copies of two SS applications, one for each name, but the same number. If anyone could help me with this or tell me how to go about getting a copy of this record I would be deeply grateful. (Sutton was the name they married under).
ARMSTRONG, WHITTAKER

My g-grandfather Frank HEISEL and his wife Mary and infant daughter Luisa (Louisa) came from Austria to the US in the mid-1880's. The settled in Papillion,Nebraska, where he ran an establishment called Hiesel House. Frank applied for citizenship about 1888. Frank and Mary had 5 more children after arriving in Nebraska: Frank b. 10/1892 Frederick b. 4/1893, d.10/1968 Mary b. 2/1895 Edward b. 12/1898, died 12/1970 (my grandfather) Amelia (no record of birthdate, may have died as infant) Does this family show up on any records? Also, my mother has no recollection of the mention of either Luisa or Amelia. She knew of all her father's other siblings. I would be especially interested to know whether Frank and Mary and Luisa (Louisa) (born in Austria) and Amelia (born in Nebraska) show up on any of the birth or death records. Is there any record of Mary Heisel's (my g-grandmother's) family name in Austria or their city of origin in Austria or birthdates? I've only recently gotten started trying to trace my ancestors, so I'm not familiar with what types of local government records there may be. I did hear a rumor that Hiesel House may still be standing (don't know if it still has the same name). Because my mother had never heard of Luisa (Louisa) or Amelia, she suspects that maybe they did not live to adulthood. Are there death records for Amelia or Louisa? Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for you help.

child from that union - JOHANNA SCHNEIDER who married (??) KLEEBERGER
and moved to Spearman, Texas. After ANNA's death he married CLARA
ADLER (abt. 1880- 8/1925). That union produced eight children -
MATTHEW (3/12/1899-2/5/1979) married Agnes (??) and moved to San

not seen any of these names posted. Is anyone researching any of
these lines? Any info would be appreciated and I am very willing to
share what info I have. Thanks in advance.
GALVIN
I am looking for desendents or antecedents or information on Elmer S.
GALVIN (my grandfather), son of Ed Galvin (farmer) of Nebraska. Here
is what I know about him and my family. Elmer GALVIN (b. ~1874 in
Lincoln, NE.) a son of Ed Galvin. His mother's maiden name was
SAWLEY. Elmer married Myrtle May BETZ (b. 1898) in Council Bluffs,
Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, ~March 3, 1897. Fathered Arnold Harold
Galvin (my father), who was born on Nov. 18, 1897. According to
Polk's City Directory, Elmer and Myrtle lived in Havelock, NE in 1898
and 1899 where Elmer worked for the Burlington and Missouri River
(Burlington) Railroad first as a Blacksmith and later as a Helper.
Elmer and Myrtle separated after only two or three years and Myrtle
refused to speak of Elmer for the rest of her life. Myrtle's father
was William T. BETZ and her mother was Mary A. Betz who were married
in 1873. Myrtle was born in 1879 at Point Pleasant, WV. She had 4
brothers, Reginald (Reg), b. 1876; Oscar, b.1877; Elmer, b. 1878; and
Bert, b. 1881. Myrtle married Charles F. ALGER in 1906 in Fremont,
NE. Arnold attended the Nebraska Military Academy at Lincoln (later
the Nebraska state reformatory), married Dorothy Vivian WALTER (b.
Sept. 9, 1998), in 1918, owned and operated the Galvin Mercantile
Store in Walton (now the Walton Trail Stop) and went on to eventually
became a flier and instructor at the Lincoln Flying School in the
late 20s. From 1936 to 1940 Arnold and Dorothy owned and operated the
Western Auto Store in Holdredge. Charles Alger died in 1936, Myrtle
in 1962, Arnold in 1963, and Dorothy in 1982. I am the only child of
Arnold and Dorothy Galvin, who were also only children, and so I have
no living relatives or siblings that I know of. Because Arnold (my
father) was an avid photo buff and a very active flyer in early
Lincoln, he had lots of photos of early aviation as well as other
scenes in and around Lincoln. Recently I contributed more than 200 of
his photos and home movies (which includes many family scenes) and
other artifacts to the Nebraska State Historical Society at Lincoln.
These are cataloged under the A.H. Galvin collection, in case anyone
is interested in them.
