STRUBBE posted by Lydia (Strubbe) Gardner on Monday, February 17, 1997

I am looking for any information on any Strubbe that settled in Nebraska. Most settled in Indiana after coming from Germany...except for Henry Strubbe Sr., who left Indiana around 1874 and headed for Nebraska. Henry Strubbe was married to Sarah Coltmeyer(or Kaultmeyer) and they had Laney, Louis, Elizabeth, Frank, Amelia, and Ida. Louis Strubbe was the youngest, born in the fall of 1872 in Indiana, but his obituary was seen years ago by a relative in a Nebraska paper. Last year, a letter from a Strubbe from California arrived and was inquiring about family history. Her mother was adopted by a Louis and Ollie Strubbe along with other children (Frances, Jack O., and Edna Marie)....she went on to state that her mother married her adopted cousin Floyd William Strubbe, son of Harold and Anna Strubbe. Interesting....so I am trying to find anything on any Strubbe in Nebraska. Would appreciate any info!

WHEELER posted by Vince Powers on Sunday, March 2, 1997

My great, great grandfather settled in Polk Co. for a time, he was Robert WHEELER, c.1870-1880. Later became a district Judge around Lincoln?....and removed to Tecumseh, Okla. about 1900, where he lived until his death in 1937. Any info you can provide on his Polk Co. days would be appreciated. He was at first a farmer, then READ the law, and I believe was a partner with Albinus Nance, until he became Govenor? Vince Powers-Magnolia, Texas.

COX posted by Phyllis Cox on Monday, May 5, 1997

I am looking for information that will help me find a grave site for Nancy McConnaughey Cox who died Feb. 26, 1875. She and her husband, Jonathan Ramsay Cox were living near Maywood, Frontier County, NE when she gave birth to a deformed son in November of 1874 so I assume she died due to a difficult birth. Cannot locate a site in Frontier County so am checking Saunders since Jonathan had a brother, Joseph Cox, who was a very prominent citizen in Valparaiso and Jonathan and Nancy may have gone there shortly before she died.

I am looking for ancestors of John and Laura Shadonix. They were married ca 1924 and lived in Wahoo and Gretna. Laura's maiden name was Wagner, her mother's name was Anna. John may have relatives in the area with a phonetically respelled name, such as Chadnick or Shadnicks. John died in 1951, was born in 1901 or 2, Laura was born in 1907 or 8. Laura's family farmed near Gretna and the name Wagner may also have been phonetically respelled. They had three children, John, Dale and Elaine. John is dead, Dale lives in Confidence Iowa, Elaine's married name is Stober. She lives in Omaha. There is some indication of relatives in family records of the Wagners, but none of the Shadonix side prior to John Sr.
