DAVIS, MAGUIRE posted by Vicki King on Friday, September 4, 1998

ELIZABETH (LIZZIE) DAVIS of Ashland, Nebraska was listed as executrix in the 1931 Mills County Iowa Probate Records for her sisters Mary Edith MAGUIRE/MAGWIRE b 5 Dec 1853 Petersburg, Huntingdon County, PA d 13 May 1931 Emerson, Mills County, IA & Minne Patience MAGUIRE/MAGWIRE b 4 Nov 1866 Petersburg, Huntingdon County, PA d 26 Sep 1931 Emerson, Mills County, IA. Elizabeth MAGUIRE/MAGWIRE DAVIS was born circa 1848 in PA. In 1931 the only other surviving member of her natal family was my GreatGrandFather Henry Joseph MAGUIRE b 19 Mar 1860 Petersburg, Huntingdon County, PA d 28 Feb 1941 Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, IA & buried Bethel Cemetery near Logan, Harrison County, IA. A desceased sister's children, whose name is unknown, were also named in the probate records. Those children would have been the nieces & nephews of Elizabeth DAVIS. They were George BELL of Creston IA, Frank BELL of Freeport IL, Lela HOSSLE of Emerson IA and Luella TURNER of Red Oak IA. Henry Joseph MAGUIRE also had children who were John E, William McKinley, Charles Joseph, Vera Mae MAGUIRE KOENIG & Carl Lynn. Elizabeth's parents were James MAGUIRE/MAGWIRE & Sarah DUNLAP both born in PA, they had 10 children but I only have names of six of the children. Elizabeth had brothers named John & Keage or Heage who I presume passed away before 1931 since they were not listed in the probate records. The MAGUIRE/MAGWIRE family moved to Emerson, IA in 1879. They used both spellings of the surname. Elizabeth had cousins named Patience LOGAN & M James LOGAN who were living in the James MAGWIRE residence in 1880. Elizabeth was listed as unmarried on the 1880 & 1885 Mills County census records in her father's household which was in Section 13 north of the Emerson Cemetery. I do not know when or where Elizabeth married Mr Davis or any information about him. Does anyone have any information on Elizabeth MAGUIRE/MAGWIRE DAVIS or any of the other people listed above. I would really like to find this GreatGreatAunt. I have the Henry Joseph MAGUIRE line of the family to share.
