Looking for DUKE/BURGE families who are buried in Saunders Co.? possibly in Ceresco. I have an obituary for Calvin Duke (Union Civil War vet), stating his funeral service was held at Pleasant Hill church and the sermon was preached by Rev. C.P. Hackney of Ashland. "All the pioneers and old settlers of the neighborhood for a distance of ten miles were present to pay a last tribute to their old comrade". This was reported in the Sturgis, SD Advertizer March 28, 1888, but originally printed in the Ceresco(Neb)Times. About one year later, Martha Mary Burge Duke died, about Nov. 11th or 15th, 1889 in Alkali, SD (near Sturgis) and was shipped from SD to be buried next to her husband. One infant son, William Calvin Duke, born Jan.5, 1875 might be buried next to Martha and Calvin as well. A large Duke monument was brought to NE from SD. Any more information on where this cemetary is located or any other facts about this family would be appreciated. Thank you!!!
