I am researching the Hurst family of Cedar Bluffs. I am also researching the McCoy family of Cedar Bluffs. I am trying to find other researchers for these names. Related names are Auten, Sholts, Fritz. James Hurst was a homesteader from Ireland. Thomas McCoy also from Ireland.
I notice in the 1880, 1885 and 1900 censuses that there are a number of persons with the surname Walla in the western part of Saunders county, particularly around Newman township. My Moravian/Czech descendants with the surname Walla lived just across the county line in eastern Butler County (Abie-Linwood area), and I know they have to be related somehow to the Saunders County Wallas. My gg grandfather was Ludwick (a/k/a Ludwig, Lewis)Walla, born 1875 in Nebraska, son of Mary Curda and John Walla (who was born in Moravia in 1845, and came to Butler County in 1871. Don't know what year he came to the U.S.). John's father was reportedly a George Walla and his mother was Johanna Wotipka (Votypka). John had a full brother Frank Walla born in 1873 and several half sisters and brothers after his father remarried after his mother's death in the 1870s. John Walla died in 1889 and I believe is buried in Butler County, Ludwick died in 1911 in Boone County. Any info anyone has on the emigration of the Walla family to Nebraska would be greatly appreciated.

SMITH and SHOLTS families of Cedar Bluffs (ca. 1870s-1920s): I have some SHOLTS family genealogy material furnished, I would guess at least 30-40 years ago, to deceased members of my mother's Sholts family from Dane County, WI. It may be an excerpt from a larger SMITH genealogy, but has no indication of that or of authorship. The material focuses on ORIN HARPER SHOLTS (b. June 18, 1852, Town of Rutland, Dane Co., WI; b. February 14, 1921, Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska), his parents, siblings, etc. He married LOULIE MAY SMITH on June 23, 1886, and had one son, LEO HERBERT SHOLTS. Among the sources attributed are: "Wanda Arlynne (Sholts) Kuenzli, Leland Wade Smith ... family Bible of John and Mary Smith.". I wish to identify the research and would also welcome contact with anyone who is also interested in the families.
Joseph B. ROBISON Jr., b Cumberland County, PA 22 March 1811 d. 27 March 1880, Oak Creek Precinct, Saunders County, NE. Joseph was married to Nancy COOK, born Columbiana County, OH 24 Dec 1811, no death date yet. Joseph's son, Sylvanus Bradfield ROBISON, m. Margaret Jane REISINGER, lived near Valparaiso in the 1880 census. He had moved to Nebraska around 1867 and moved to Washington before 1900. Children of Sylvanus and Margaret included Elizabeth, Celestine, William A., Mary, Elta, Clema, Carrie, Frank (my great grandfather), Lillian (died in infancy), Prudence Margaret Ruth (Prudy), possibly others. All but Eliza, Celestine and William were born in Nebraska. In the 1900 Census, only Prudy still lives with Sylvanus and Margaret. Joseph and Lillian, infant daughter of Sylvanus and a Louisa are buried in the "unknown" cemetery near the Oak Creek Precinct. This Louisa may or may not be the 2nd wife of Joseph. Her first husband would have been a SAVAGE. The last name is often mispelled "ROBINSON". Any info on this family is much appreciated.
