PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
MRS. ANNA ELLIOTT THE ONLY SURVIVING
CHARTER MEMBER IN HEBRON

Established in 1889
A List of Pastors Who Helped Bring Over a Thousand Members Into this Church

The writer has not been able to locate the earliest records of the Presbyterian church of Hebron, the present record beginning with April 14, 1889.

However, the date when the first minister began his work here is given as June 1, 1883, and the date of the organization of the church is given as October 7, 1883.

The first meetings were held in the Methodist Church building, which was then in the western part of the town. Later the Opera House was used for the meetings until the completion of the present building, which was in 1890.

The church was organized on October 7, 1883, with the following named members, twelve in number:
Rev. Geo. W. Goodale, pastor; Mrs. Anna Elliott, Mrs. Mary Goodale, Mrs. M. J. Hess (Mrs. Foreman), F. A. McMillan, Mrs. Alice M. J. Smith, E. _. Dimmick, Mrs. Meda Dimmick, Charles Dimmick, Mrs. Mary Marquis, Mrs. Mary Randall, Mrs. E. M. McMillan.

The last two names given with some reservation, as the present record does no give the date of their reception, but the position of the names indicates they were charter members. It seems likely that the name of the pastor was counted to make the twelve members.

Of these, the only one now left in Hebron is Mrs. Anna Elliott, who came from Cambridge, Wisconsin.

The following is a list of the pastors, with the dates when they began their work in this church.
