How to find the census image for an individual:You can view the images for the Thayer County 1940 census by following the link below. Once there, you will need to choose the Enumeration District and then scroll through the images for that ED to find the person that you are researching.Example search: The following information from the census helps me find the image where Galen H. Allen's name is recorded: 1 51 85-1 1B 13 Allen, Galen H By using the numbers listed before his name in this index, I know that I need to look at the image for Enumeration District 85-1, Sheet 1B, line 51. I now can go to the following web page and enter Thayer County, Nebraska for the census images. Find the image for ED# 85-1 and then scroll through the images to the image for Sheet 1B.
