Miller was born Sept. 1854 in Illinois- He and Libbie were married in 1880 in Raymond, IL.-They are both buried in the Chester City Cemetery, Thayer county, Nebraska - The 1900 census has them living in Chester, Nebraska along with their children:

Reynolds Loftin Miller Jr.-born November 1880 Kansas married Erma Canfield
Stephen Miller born 1882 Kansas
Hattie B. Miller born 1885 in Kansas -married John W. Hughes and had a daughter named Hilda Hughes - They are on the 1920 and 1930 census living in Hebron, Thayer county, NE. and owned a hotel in Hebron.
Thomas Grant Miller born 1886 Kansas -married Sylvia Gertrude Reeve 1908 in Nuckolls county, NE.

KAREN FOSTER MONTGOMERY
COVINGTON, James, born 1824-1825, in Indiana, died October 6, 1897, Belvidere, Nebraska. Moved from Mason County, Illinois, and lived on farm with wife #3, Rosanna (nee: Snyder) COATES Covington, who died November 6, 1904, Belvidere, Nebraska. Rosanna was 55 when she married James, so there may not have been any children from this union. However, she did have children from her marriage to Jesse M. Coates: Laura Alice, William, Mary Matilda, John Miles, and Louisa 'Katy/Lou' Catherine. James COVINGTON had children from two previous marriages, named here. Will, Stephen Hole, Robert, Arrabelle 'Belle' (PRETTYMAN), Susan (HENNINGER) and Catherine. The farm was sold November 20, 1899. One of James' daughters lived nearby, so after James died (1897) and the farm was sold (1899), Rosanna may have lived with her stepdaughter until her death in 1904. That's pure speculation, since I don't know what other relatives may have lived nearby. KAREN FOSTER MONTGOMERY RkMontg342@aol.com

I am a descendent of John Saxon, a Rev. War Soldier. John Saxon was the great great grandfather of Lucy Jane Dodge Barger. She was a prominent citizen of Hebron, Thayer Co., NE.

John and his wife, Elizabeth Evans' second child was Hepsey. She married (2nd marriage I think) Selah Ellis. Selah was a soldier in the War of 1812. At this time they were living in Putnam County, NY. Their daughter (granddaughter of John Saxon) was Mary Maria Ellis. (b. March 21, 1824 in Steuben County, NY(third child). Mary married Nathan Dodge in 1840 in New York. Their daughter Lucy Jane Dodge married Winslow H. Barger at Neosho, WI on April 14, 1870. In 1871 Lucy Jane and Winslow came to Thayer County, NE. They became prominent citizens and are the subject of biographical sketches in Nebraska: The Land and The People (page 397, 398) and in Andreas' History of the State of Nebraska in the biographical sketches of Hebron.

I am interested in corresponding with those researching these lines. I am particularly interested in information regarding Hepsey Saxton Sprague Ellis. I am descendent from John and Elizabeth (Evans) Saxon's daughter, Mary who married Gilbert Townsend. Several of their descendents ended up in NE in the late 1800s. Hopefully information about Hepsey will lead to the parents of John Saxon. I have quite a bit of Saxon data and perhaps those doing research in Thayer County have Saxon information in their research. I am willing to share information with anyone who would find the data useful.

I'm looking for some ancestors from Thayer County, specifically Hebron. Peter Oleson, born around 1840. I don't know when he died. Ben White, born around 1840 as well. No info on death date here either. I'm not even 100% sure that Ben white was in Hebron, but his son was married there and there's no trace of either of them in the Illinois census (where they were before). Peter Oleson came from Norway and his daughter was married in Hebron, so I suppose there's a chance that he moved on after that.
