Welcome
Sioux County in Nebraska was established in 1867, the same year that Nebraska became a state. The legislature of 1885 divided the territory into Sioux, Dawes, Box Butte and Sheridan, leaving Sioux County with its present borders. The first post office was at Warbonnet, at the Warbonnet Ranch. The county seat, originally named Bowen, is Harrison. Sioux County is the home to Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, Fort Robinson State Park, and parts of the Nebraska National Forest. The census was 1,135 in the 2020 Census.
