Sarah A. (McElmee) Thomas
OBITUARY.
SARAH A. (McELMEE) THOMAS was born in Adams Co., Penn. Jan. 12, 1835, and remained there until 1877. She was united in marriage with ISAAC THOMAS in 1856. In 1877 they moved to Story county, Iowa, and in the spring of 1886 they came to Nebraska where they have since resided. To this union were born six children, three boys and three girls. Four of these children, two boys and two girls, preceded her to the other world. Mrs. Maggie L. Goebel and Mr. Beryn K. Thomas, the remaining daughter and son, with the husband, were present at the funeral blending their sympathies and tears in their irreparable earthly loss. Sister Thomas was converted and united with the M. E. church when nineteen years of age and has ever since remained numbered with God's children. She died at her home near the Pleasant Plain church Feb. 20, 1904, being 69 years 1 month and 8 days of age. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. D. Willard of Alexandria at the Pleasant Plain church, and the body was lain to rest in the Belvidere cemetery.
