McGuire Cemetery
Gosper County

(Photo taken 1989)
McGuire Cemetery, Gosper County, Nebraska, the cemetery was established in 1873, the year that Davison and Catherine McGuire applied for homestead on the place.  The oldest known grave has the name "Rice" on it dated 1873; other names are A.B. McGuire, 1902, H. A. McGuire, dated 1877, Drusilla Martin, 1885 (no headstone), J.R. Martin, 1900 (no headstone, Minnie Martin, 1902 (no headstone).
Also, the names of Reed and Harmon are on stones, and there may be unknown others buried there.  The cemetery was part of the original homestead and was deeded to the "McGuire Family Cemetery Association", April 4, 1900, containing abtout 2 acres.  The property was likely sold to the county for back taxes as there were no remaining family members still living in Gosper County after 1902.--William McGuire
