H. Madison, ill two years, dies
Death comes Sunday evening at home on East Second Street
Herbert Madison, 72, retired farmer, died at 7 o'clock Sunday night at the family home, 215 Second Street, after an illness of two years. His condition had been serious since last June.
Coming to Ogallala from Geneva, Nebr., in 1912, Mr. Madison had been active in farming on the divide northeast of Roscoe until illness dictated his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, Robert Madison of Camas, Wash., Byford of Vale, Ore., and Virgil and Bernard Madison, Ogallala, and four daughters, Mrs. Blanch Kenyon of Camas, Wash., Mrs. Lucille Thieler of Paxton and Mrs. Dorothy Thorpe and Mrs. Delores Garrard of Ogallala.
The body is at the Stone Funeral Home.
Dottie Madison
Keith Co News (undated)Dottie, daughter of William and Lizzie Pickerill was born at Geneva, Nebr., on July 20, 1880. She died at Ogallala, Nebr., at 3:30 a.m. Dec. 30, 1953.
Her girlhood and young womanhood were spent about Geneva. Here she was married to Mr. Herbert Madison on Sept. 7, 1901. They continued to make their home there until 1912 when they came to Keith county. They first lived on a ranch near Keystone and then in 1918 moved to a farm two miles north of Roscoe. That was their home until 1945 when they retired to their home in Ogallala.
Eight children were born of their marriage union, all of which are living. They are Mrs. Blanch Kenyon of Camas, Wash., Robert and Byford of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Lucille Thieler of Paxton, Nebr., Mrs. Tom [Dorothy] Thorpe of North Platte, Nebr., Virgil and Bernard and Mrs. Orville [DeLois] Garrard of Ogallala, Nebr.
She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Venice Mills of Geneva, Nebr., and twenty-three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death January 5, 1947 and also four sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Madison found her large interest in her home and family. Since her husband's death she has found it lonely, but took large satisfaction in having several of her children and their families near by.
She will be held in loving memory by all her children and those who knew her best.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon Jan. 2, 1954 in the Methodist church with the Rev. Robert Embree, pastor, officiating and interment in the Ogallala cemetery.
The Messrs. Charles Thalken, Charles E. Mueller, William Hahn, Cliff Hull, A.F. Frost and Bob Alford served as pallbearers.
