The Carlson and Co. hardware store had a wide selection of merchandise.

   Some of the people who also have shaped the village's history are grocers Edward Hanson, Ralph Bendz, Roscoe Underbarg, Henry Weller, Ciifton Bendz; Physicians Dr. F. .T. Wright, Dr. Wm. W. Noyes; farmers Thurman Martin, J. O. Beaman, I. K. Beaman, Otis Beaman; carpenters Charles O. Nelson, August Patzloff; concert band director Frank Hughes; drayman Charles Morrison; cafe owner Peter Blomstrom; policemen Albin Nelson, Lyle Gamble; superintendents of schools E. O. Lindberg, Charles Runty; plumber Aaron Hedlund.

   The churches of Ceresco have grown with the town since its beginning. The Methodist Church began when a group of people organized a Sunday School with a leader in charge. The first meetings were held in homes with circuit-riding ministers visiting the Sunday schools about once a month. Brother Comstock was the first recorded minister for the Methodists in 1871. Services were held in the school built in 1872 and later upstairs in the Chandler Hall in Ceresco.

   During 1887 the first church building was built with dedication on November 20, 1887. The structure cost $1800 and D. Y. Black was the first pastor to serve in it. Church officers on March 18, 1887 were Trustees Samuel Dewey, Asahel Andrus, F. F. Horn, A. W. Lowell, and Dr. R. D. Bush, and stewards were Asahel Andrus, Mrs. Amelia Dewey and Carrie Gibbs.

   The lots for the old church property and the lots to the west were purchased from the Western Town Lot Company. A Mr. Rouse was the contractor, George Boyce was the carpenter and plastering was done by Addison Meese. The old church was one of the first public buildings to be built in Ceresco.

A Ceresco girl who made it to Hollywood and became part of the
movie scene was Pauline Bush Dwan, daughter of Dr. R.D. Bush.
