How to find the census image for an individual:You can view the images for the Hamilton County 1940 census by following the link below. Once there, you will need to choose the Enumeration District and then scroll through the images for that ED to find the person that you are researching.Example search: The following information from the census helps me find the image where my Father's name is recorded: 27 67 41-5 4B 115 Douglas Raymond By using the numbers listed before his name in this index, I know that I need to look at the image for Enumeration District 41-5, Sheet 4B, line 67. I now can go to the following web page, find the link for ED# 41-5 and then scroll through to the image for Sheet 4B. (The Sheet #'s are found in the upper right hand corner of the page.) My Father's name is on line #67 on Sheet 4B. |

Note: I found several enumerators that seemed to not ask for the proper spelling on names and used their own spelling. If the name is really off or hard to read, I added a ? question mark to the word and sometimes put a possible spelling in the notes.
