Welcome To Saline County, Part of the NeGenWeb!

Welcome to Saline County! I'm your county coordinator, Donna Brandt. If you have any genealogy questions or need more information about resources on the site, please email me. Saline County was officially organized in Febuary of 1867. Swan City was the original county seat, with Wilbur being voted as seat in September of 1877. The original landowners in the area believed that there were salt springs in the area, hence the name Saline, but none were found. Current communities within Saline are Berks, Crete, De Witt, Dorchester, Friend, Pleasant Hill, Shestak, Swanton, Tobias, Western, and Wilber (which is the current county seat). There are 20 properties and districts on the National Register of Historic Places in Saline County.

If you should find a link or email address that is not valid, please let me know and I will either update or remove it.
