Looking for information on the Speer family. My father, Elzie Manning, married Mayme Speer, daughter of Perry and Eva Speer. Mayme died within a few months of their marriage. Mayme Speer was raised in the Douglas Grove Precinct.

My 2nd great grandparents Matthew MACKIE and Mary E. HUGHES MACKIE lived in Phillipsburg, Custer County, Nebraska at the time of the birth of their last son, George W. Mackie. He was born in May of 1886. Sometime between 1886 and 1889, they lost a son, Charles Mackie in a tornado. I am trying to determine when this tornado happened, and what Phillipsburg is now known as, since I couldn't map it on any of my current map programs. Thanks for any help in solving this mystery! I am trying to find out more about Dr. Luther Michael. His mother was Agnes Douglas of Cynthiana, KY who married Thomas Francis Michael also of Cynthiana. They moved to Vermillion IL shortly after their marriage. I found that Dr. Michael married Emma Timmerman in Callaway, Custer Co., NE on 10/16/1886. Emma had a son Clifford Michael who was born 1/10/1889 and died 8/14/1889. Shortly thereafter, Emma died in 9/1890. Both are buried in the Kingsbury Cemetery. Dr. Luther Michael then married Anna Agnes Walsh in Shelton, NE on 3/1/1892. Sometime thereafter Dr. Michael and Anna moved to California where he had a practice and settled. My father has a picture of Dr. Michael and also has a picture of his office located somewhere in Nebraska. Dr. Michael visited my grandparents when he came to the Derby each year in Kentucky. I don't think he is the son of George Bishop married Rachel Skeels (her second marriage; 3 Dec 1849 in Putnam Co., IN). Rachel had a son Truman Skeels who was 10 yrs in the 1850 Iroquois Co., IL census. Am I missing something. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a grandfather, John Thomas Holcomb, who was in WWI. His papers say he was born in prison in Tucker, Nebraska. How do I find information about this? I believe his parents were Sylvanus and Elizabeth Holcomb. Please help. Lee

I am looking for information about my great-grandfather,John Thomas Tyrrell, who came to Nebraska, with his wife Annie in 1885, or so.He had been working in Nova Scotia for the Newville Lumber Co. and his boss, Dan Young, sent him to ,what was then,Custer, Neb. to be foreman of a ranch. His wife, Annie, cooked for up to 25 cowboys. All of their children were born there. The ranch house was built of cedar logs with a turf roof and evidently, is the site of a park in Broken Bow??The building is used for flower shows, concerts, etc.(I have no first hand knowledge of this.)In approx. 1894 a severe drought forced everyone out and the Tyrrells returned to Newville, Nova Scotia.JohnThomas Tyrrell had another son, Frank and a daughter, Eva.I am interested in confirming this so if there is anyone who can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

looking for information on Alonzo Artimus Hovey b. 1843 in NY. his father was James Franklin Hovey. Along with his brother, John W. Hovey, and his father they are listed as having land in Buffalo Co. Alonzo was married to Orpha Wilson. There is one known child, Richard hovey. Richard's son Donzel hovey was born in Custer Co. in 1900.
