We are looking for a Chloe Brotherton b. @ 1888 in Nebraska. Looking also for a Claude J Hall born @1885 possibly in Merna, Custer County. They are Hans' maternal great-grandparents. The 1920 census has them as a family in Field Precinct of Scotts Bluff County with three children: Virginia age 8, Margaret age 4, James age 4. In 1930 they have two more children, Pauline age 9 and Robert**age5 in Norfolk, Madison County. Family oral tradition has Claude born in Merna and marrying Chloe L. Brotherton @1908 but we don't know where.

In the late 1800's and early 1900's our Owen family seemed to have several photographs taken by Edgar Draper Studios in Loup City, Nebraska. Since they lived in Sargent, Custer County, it seems strange that they would travel so far to have their photos taken. It also seems odd that they "suddenly" started having photos taken. I don't know if this was due to an improving financial situation for the family, increased interest in having their pictures taken since the children were reaching their late teens and early 20's, or if there was a connection between the Owen family and Edgar Draper's family. One of the Owen daughters (daughter of Leonard and Mary Klingler Owen), May, married George Jack Draper, s/o William and Fannie (Parolek?) Draper who also lived in Custer County. Can anyone tell me anything about Edgar Draper's family and whether there was a connection to George Draper? Later, Edgar Draper worked in Central City, Nebraska. Is it possible that Edgar Draper traveled around at certain times of the year and took photographs in neighboring towns?
