My father was John Roy Durham born March 17, 1890 Have there been any queries about him? Are there any of his relatives in the area? When we were in Broken Bow this spring we tried to visit the Custer County Historical society but it was not opem and we could not find out when it might be or how to contact anyone there. His niece Phyllis Ayres used to live in the area but I could not find any Ayres in the phone book.

I am researching the Swenson/Popp/Eighmy families. John and Marie Swenson homesteaded in Custer Co. and John's brother August and he came from Sweden. I do not know what happened to August after he turned over the family homestead to John, but the land is still in the hands of family members, and the Popp and Uhlig families still work the land in the area. Family reunions are held in July. I have been collecting information about the Swenson or Svensson family back in Skåne, Sweden. I am also looking for any information about what may have become of my grandfather, Lee Vernon Eighmy, who married Matilda Swenson in 1908. They had 3 children, Mervin, Alvin and Helen, and Lee was last seen around 1920. There is some chance that he may have moved to Colorado, but I have no proof. Matilda later married Claude Smith. Helen married Vernon H.A. Paulson.

Hi, I'm looking for information on the Charles and Cynthia Williams family. They were listed in the 1880 US census as residing in "Precinct 7, Custer Co., NE." Could someone tell me where Precinct 7 was? Is there a map on-line showing precincts so I can further pinpoint where they lived? I found a name in the Lonetree Cemetery list for Cynthia (died Oct,1901). It says that she was the wife of C. C. Williams. Other records I've found suggest that Charles G. Williams was a farmer in the Elton, Custer Co., NE area. Is there any way I can verify that it was C C Williams on Cynthia's tombstone? Charles and Cynthia had the following children living with them in 1880: William H., b abt 1859 in Pennsylvania George, b abt 1862 in Pennsylvania John Wakefield, b 1867 in Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa (my grandfather) Effie (went by Ellie), b abt 1874 in Iowa (married Jesse R. Richards) Their other son, Samuel Thomas (went by Thomas), b abt 1855 in Pennsylvania, may or may not have come with them to NE from IA Any information you can provide will be greately appreciated. Thank you. Dan Williams Redmond, OR

HAROLD STEIGER b. Jul 10, 1907 d. Sep 29, 1993 (buried in Rosehill Cemetery) was the adopted son of P. Jacob and Lillie Steiger of Callaway and living with them in the 1930 census. I am researching another family by the name of Tammen whose son (Thomas) of the same age is not found with the family in the 1930 census. And listed in a sibling's obituary is "Harold Steiger". Was Thomas Tammen adopted by the Steiger's and then went by Harold? Would anyone have access to obituaries or to the death record at the courthouse which might have clues. Phillip Jake Steiger b Nov. 21, 1870 d. Mar 29, 1951 and Lillie Mae Steiger b. Oct 5, 1874 d Sep 9, 1963. I would appreciate any help. Marcia Johnson Apple Valley, Minnesota

Hi all- A strange request. I am trying to get a list of all the oil/fuel delivery businesses in the vicnity of Arnold in the late 1940s/early 1950s. I am looking for a particular individual, don't know his name but do know that he operated an independent trucking service in the area during that time frame. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Living in CA so going there would be problematic in the short term. thanks in advance! Jim
